The KURANDA EXPLORER PACKAGE includes:
A 45-minute calm water cruise on the KURANDA RIVERBOAT. The commentary highlights various aspects of the World's most ancient tropical rainforest in Australia, river life and the history of Kuranda. The river is home to a host of wildlife including freshwater crocodiles, turtles, snakes, fish and birds. Occasionally a wild cassowary may be spotted on the edge of the rainforest. All tours on the Kuranda Riverboat are subject to seasonal river conditions and group bookings.
Entry to the KURANDA KOALA GARDENS where you can experience Australia's most popular wildlife. Handfeed kangaroos or wallabies, have a photo holding a koala, (additional cost) and see wombats, quokkas, lizards, snakes, freshwater crocodiles and walk through the noctural exhibit where bilbies are housed.
Entry to BIRDWORLD KURANDA where you can see Australia's largest collection of free-flying birds. At Birdworld, immerse yourself with the birds in their beautiful rainforest habitat. Flying around you are species from the vanishing rainforests of the world, including some of Australia’s most precious and beautiful birds. There are brilliant Amazonian macaws, the endangered and stately cassowary, cheeky rainbow lorikeets, galahs, cockatoos and many more. Don’t be surprised to find a feathered friend taking a ride on your shoulder.
There are over 350 birds living at Birdworld and hand-feeding and photo opportunities are available.
You may spend as much time as you like at the Koala Gardens and Birdworld. Arrival & departure times are flexible.

Make own way to Kuranda on the Atherton Tablelands. Kuranda is approximately 25 kilometres from Cairns at the top of the mountain range to the West.
Please indicate a second preference for Kuranda Riverboat when booking. (We will try to provide your first preference but the tour may be fully booked)
The Riverboat Cruise time allocated to you will be confirmed to you. The Riverboat departs from Barron River Esplanade IN KURANDA.
Walk across the Kuranda Railway Station footbridge and down the stairs to the river. (NOT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE)
Kuranda Koala Gardens is located in the Heritage Markets. Tickets for Birdworld are issued from here. Arrival & departure times are flexible.
