Day 1

Travel from Brisbane along the Steve Irwin Way, pass the Glass House Mts and continue along the beautiful Sunshine Coast. We make our way to Double Island Point (tide dependent) to look at the Coloured Sands at Rainbow Beach. This is our lunch stop (own expense). Time here to relax, swim or look in the local shops.

Next it is off to catch the Fraser Island Ferry. On the crossing you will see parts of Fraser Island as well as Hervey Bay. Be sure to look out for all the wonderful sea life. After reaching the island you drive along the extraordinary 75 Mile Surf Beach, You cover the southern tip of Fraser Island and in doing so cross as many as 8 creeks!

We visit Eli Creek where you can have fun swimming or floating down the fast flowing creek. This is a popular swimming and picnic spot. There is a boardwalk that follows the creek for those who wish to remain dry.

You can go past Maheno Shipwreck without stopping and having a look. It got washed up here during a cyclone in 1935 and has called Fraser Island home ever since!

Lake Wabby awaits us next. You will be amazed at the beauty of this lake, one side of it is dark green in colour but you have to wait until you are there to learn why! It is surrounded by bright white sand dunes, just think of the fun you will have on them. You can either swim, walk, or just chill.

Time to relax and enjoy your evening.

Day 2

For those who love a sunrise, you will enjoy this one! After breakfast it is time to head to Eli Creek where you can float or swimming down the creek taking advantage of the fast flowing water. No effort required!

The Pinnacles Coloured Sands are one of the amazing sights on this beautiful island. The colours are oranges, browns & yellows, all in varying shades. It truly is a wonderful sight. Nature is responsible, through wind and rain, over a very long time to give us these treats. A photographer’s delight!

Visit the Maheno Shipwreck and learn why so came and decided never to leave! Time for another swim, this time in the breath-taking Champagne Pools. They are rock pools bubbling with seawater. Nature’s own Jacuzzi, right beside the ocean. No one ever wants to leave. Now that you are relaxed it is time for a little exercise for some, climb Indian Head and be rewarded with amazing views. Keep an eye out for all the sea life often spotted here.

That is enough beauty for one day, time to return to camp, relax and have dinner. This is the perfect place to star gaze, no artificial lights to get in the way. Be sure to leave some time to look at them.

Day 3

After breakfast it is time for more of nature’s surprises. At our first stop, Lake McKenzie, will certainly surprise you. I won’t tell you why! Swim in her beautiful water or relax on the white sand and chill. Time for a wander through the rainforest, using the boardwalk along the water of Wanggoolba Creek & Central Station.

Sadly it is time to leave this beautiful island behind, but you have great memories and I’m guessing hundreds of photos to remember these 3 days by. We travel home via a different route, either by the Cooloola National Park or the Bruce Highway.
